Construction drawing revision register template

Keep the drawing reference, revision, receipt date and review context together. The downloadable register is a synthetic worked example, not an issued drawing set.

Use stable references

Record the drawing number, title, discipline, revision and date received. Use a naming convention agreed with the project team rather than relying on filenames alone. Keep enough information to distinguish two documents with similar names and to identify the revision referred to in a site observation or decision.

Separate receipt, review and issue

A received revision is not necessarily the version approved for use. Record its review state, intended purpose and the authorised release decision. Retain the earlier version and the context of the change. Where formal transmittals or contractual notices are required, follow those procedures and reference them in the register.

Check dependent work

When a revision changes, identify affected site observations, decisions or outstanding questions. Communicate the reviewed update to authorised people and confirm which version they should use. The template supports record organisation; it does not establish compliance with a document-control standard or replace your project’s formal issue process.
